If only sinners think throwing stones helps, why did God command people to stone people for all kinds of stuff?

Interesting, stones do have the advantage of anonymity perhaps as everyone is looking to the stonee not the stoner. I suppose also that given the pain and anguish involved for the recipient, it solemnizes this drastic form of punishment, simply by the participation and close observation required to aim the stones. One must always remember that the people who thought this stuff up may have been ignorant but they were not stupid. There was no name for psycolagy then but that doesnt exclude observation of its application
